Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Shillong is from October to May when the weather is pleasant and dry. This period is ideal for sightseeing without the disruption of heavy rain. Avoid the monsoon season from June to September. A visit during December is special due to Christmas decorations and festive services, although temperatures are quite low. For a comfortable experience, spring (March-April) and autumn (October-November) are perfect.
Peak Crowd: Sundays for morning service, Christmas and Easter seasons.
Moderate Crowd: Weekends during the main tourist season (October-May).
Low Crowd: Weekday mornings and afternoons, especially during the monsoon season (June-September).

How to Reach

Air

The nearest airport is Shillong Airport (Umroi), located 30 km away (approx. 1-1.5 hours by taxi). The larger, better-connected airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) in Guwahati, 120 km away (3-4 hour drive).

Train

The nearest major railway station is Guwahati (GHY), about 100 km from Shillong. From the station, you can hire a private taxi, or take a shared cab or bus to Shillong, a journey of about 3-4 hours.

Road

Shillong is well-connected by National Highway 6. Regular buses and shared taxis are available from Guwahati's Paltan Bazar or ISBT. The road journey is scenic and takes around 3-4 hours.

Local Transport

The church is centrally located. Local taxis are readily available. You can also take a walk from the main market area of Police Bazar. App-based cab services have limited availability in Shillong.
