Air India, India's flagship carrier and national airline, has been connecting the country to the world since 1932. Founded by the legendary industrialist J.R.D. Tata — India's first licensed pilot — the airline began as Tata Airlines before being nationalised in 1953 and renamed Air India. Today, following its disinvestment and return to the Tata Group in 2022, Air India is once again forging ahead under visionary private leadership.

Affectionately known for its iconic 'Maharaja' mascot, Air India has long served as an ambassador of Indian hospitality in the skies. Air India's fleet is undergoing a historic transformation backed by one of the world's largest aircraft orders — 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing placed in 2023. This includes state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Boeing 777s, Airbus A350s and A320neo family jets, signalling a new era of passenger comfort, fuel efficiency, and global reach.
