A popular public ghat on Lake Pichola offering stunning sunset views of the City Palace and Lake Palace, perfect for photography and relaxation.
Ambrai Ghat, also locally known as Manjhi Ghat, is a large, paved public platform on the banks of Lake Pichola. Its main draw is the direct, ground-level view across the water to some of Udaipur's most famous landmarks. From here, you get an uninterrupted panorama that includes the entire City Palace complex, the Taj Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, and the Gangaur Ghat. The ghat has wide steps that lead down to the water's edge, making it a popular place to sit and watch the world go by. The atmosphere changes throughout the day. Mornings are relatively quiet, with locals performing morning rituals and feeding pigeons. The evenings, especially around sunset, are when the place comes alive. Both tourists and Udaipur residents gather to watch the sun go down behind the Aravalli hills, casting a golden light on the palaces. After dark, the illuminated City Palace and Lake Palace create a stunning reflection on the water, making it a favorite spot for photographers. Next to the public ghat is the Ambrai restaurant, part of the Amet Haveli heritage hotel, which offers lakeside dining with the same fantastic views. The ghat itself is a simple, open space where you can experience the city's lakeside culture firsthand.
