Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Anakkara is from September to March. During these months, the weather is cool and pleasant with minimal rainfall, making it perfect for exploring the spice plantations on foot. The landscape is lush and green following the monsoon. The summer months of April and May can be quite hot, while the monsoon season from June to August sees heavy rainfall, which can disrupt travel and outdoor activities, though the scenery is exceptionally beautiful.
Peak Crowd: December-January, and during festival seasons like Onam (August/September) and Christmas. These periods align with the peak tourist season in Thekkady.
Moderate Crowd: September-November and February-March. The weather is great, and the crowds are smaller than in the peak winter months.

Air

Cochin International Airport (COK) is the nearest airport, located about 150 km away. It takes approximately 4-5 hours to reach Anakkara by taxi from the airport.

Train

The nearest major railway station is Kottayam (KTYM), about 100 km away. From the station, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Kumily, and then proceed to Anakkara.

Road

Anakkara is located on the Kumily-Munnar state highway. It is well-connected by road to major towns in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It's a 30-minute drive from Thekkady/Kumily (14 km).

Local Transport

From Kumily town, you can easily hire auto-rickshaws or jeeps to reach Anakkara. Local buses plying towards Munnar also stop here.
