The palace's construction began in 1874 and was completed in 1944, showing a style heavily inspired by England's Windsor Castle. Inside, the atmosphere shifts to a more Victorian aesthetic. Visitors walk through rooms filled with elegant woodcarvings, cornices, and floral motifs. The walls are decorated with numerous paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries, including works by the famous Indian artist Raja Ravi Varma. Key areas include the Durbar Hall, where royal audiences were held, which features a large mounted elephant head and elaborate stained-glass windows.
