Bannerghatta Biological Park - Safari, Zoo & Butterfly Park in Bengaluru

The park was first established as a small zoo in 1970 within the Bannerghatta National Park. It was created to provide a recreational space for the people of Bengaluru. Over the years, it expanded significantly. In 2002, the zoo and the safari unit were separated from the national park to form the Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP). India's first butterfly park was established here and opened to the public in 2007. The park also runs an important animal rescue and rehabilitation center, caring for wildlife rescued from circuses and other situations of human-wildlife conflict.
