Overview

Bisle Ghat Viewpoint offers one of the most expansive and dramatic views of the Western Ghats in Karnataka. Located within the Bisle Reserve Forest, the viewpoint is a simple, designated structure that opens up to a vast valley. From here, you can see a continuous chain of mountain ranges, including the prominent peaks of Kumara Parvatha, Pushpagiri, and Dodda Betta. The Giri river flows through the valley below, adding to the scenery.

Best Time to Visit

The best period to visit Bisle Ghat is from September to February. During these post-monsoon and winter months, the landscape is intensely green, the air is clear, and the weather is pleasant. This is the ideal time for unobstructed views of the mountain ranges. The monsoon months, from June to August, offer a different experience with heavy mist and rain, but visibility is often zero and the roads can be treacherous. Summers, from March to May, can be hazy, reducing the clarity of the long-distance views.
Peak Crowd: October-January, especially on weekends and public holidays, due to pleasant weather.
Moderate Crowd: September, February-March on weekdays.
Low Crowd: June-August during the heavy monsoon season and April-May in peak summer.

How to Reach

Air

Mangalore International Airport (IXE) is the nearest airport, located about 115 km away. The drive from the airport to Bisle Ghat takes approximately 3-4 hours by taxi.

Train

The nearest major railway station is Sakleshpur (SKLR), around 55 km away. Hassan Junction (HAS) is another option, about 100 km away. You can hire a taxi from either station to reach the viewpoint.

Road

Bisle Ghat is located on the road connecting Sakleshpur and Kukke Subramanya. It is well-connected by road from Hassan (100 km), Sakleshpur (55 km), and Mangalore (115 km). The road through the ghat section is narrow and winding.

Local Transport

The best way to get around is by a private car or a hired jeep/taxi from Sakleshpur. Due to the remote location, ride-hailing services like Ola/Uber are not available. Local buses are infrequent and not recommended for tourists.
