Overview

Located just below the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) Dam, Brindavan Gardens is a large, beautifully laid out terraced garden. It's famous for its symmetrical design, lush green lawns, and vibrant flowerbeds. The garden is divided into two main parts, North Brindavan and South Brindavan, separated by the Kaveri river. Visitors can walk across a bridge or take a short boat ride to move between the two sections. The main attraction is the series of ornamental fountains that are spread across the garden.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is from October to February when the weather is cool and pleasant, making it ideal for walking around the gardens. The water levels in the dam are also good post-monsoon, adding to the beauty. Summers, from March to May, can be very hot. The monsoon season from June to September sees lush greenery, but heavy rains can sometimes disrupt the musical fountain show and your overall visit. The gardens are particularly crowded during the Dasara festival holidays in October.
Peak Crowd: October-January, especially during Dasara festival, Christmas holidays, weekends, and public holidays.
Moderate Crowd: February-March, July-September on weekdays.
Low Crowd: April-June on weekdays, due to the summer heat.

How to Reach

Air

The nearest major airport is Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bengaluru, about 170 km away (4-5 hours by road). Mysore Airport (MYQ) is closer but has limited flight connectivity.

Train

Mysuru Junction (MYS) is the main railway station, located about 20 km from the gardens. It is well-connected to Bengaluru, Chennai, and other major Indian cities. Taxis and buses are available from the station.

Road

Brindavan Gardens is well-connected by road from Mysore (20 km) and Bengaluru (150 km). Frequent KSRTC and private buses ply between Mysore and the KRS Dam. Driving from Bengaluru takes about 3-4 hours via the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.

Local Transport

From Mysore city, KSRTC buses from the City Bus Stand are the most budget-friendly option. Auto-rickshaws and taxis can be hired for a round trip. It's advisable to book a cab for the return journey in advance, especially if you stay late.
