Britannia and Co. Restaurant - Mumbai's Legendary Parsi Cafe

Established in 1923 by Rashid Kohinoor, an immigrant from Iran, Britannia and Co. originally served continental dishes to the British officers who worked in the surrounding business district. After India's independence, the menu was adapted to include classic Parsi and Mughlai dishes. The restaurant became an icon under the stewardship of Rashid's son, the late Boman Kohinoor, who was famous for his warmth and his love for the British Royal Family. The recipe for their signature Berry Pulao was brought to the restaurant by Boman's wife, Bachan, and it remains a closely guarded family secret. The restaurant stands today as a cherished piece of Mumbai's culinary history.
