Bryce Canyon National Park features the world's largest concentration of spire-shaped rock formations called hoodoos, offering extensive hiking and viewpoints.
Bryce Canyon National Park sits on the edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau in southern Utah. Visitors will see thousands of distinct, crimson-colored rock spires known as hoodoos. The main viewing area is the Bryce Amphitheater, which contains the highest concentration of these geological formations on Earth. The high elevation of 8,000 to 9,000 feet means the air is thin and clear, providing expansive views stretching for over 100 miles on clear days. Activities include hiking down into the canyon via steep paths like the Navajo Loop or walking along the relatively flat, paved Rim Trail. Pine forests surround the canyon rim, adding green contrast to the red and orange rock. Along the 18-mile scenic drive, several viewpoints allow visitors to look down into different sections of the canyon. The park also functions as a Dark Sky area, making it a prominent location for nighttime stargazing.
