    About the Destination

    Overview

Chikkaballapur is a region just north of Bengaluru, defined by a cluster of prominent hills known as the Pancha Giris. It's a popular escape for city dwellers looking for a mix of nature, adventure, and history. The area's main draw is its rugged, green landscape, which offers numerous opportunities for trekking and rock climbing, with Skandagiri and Nandi Hills being the most famous. Visitors often experience cool morning mists, especially at viewpoints like Nandi Hills, which is known for its sunrises over a sea of clouds. Beyond the hills, the region holds significant historical sites. The ancient Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple at the base of Nandi Hills is a fine example of Dravidian architecture, with intricate carvings and a large temple tank. More recently, the area has gained attention for the large Adiyogi statue at the Isha Yoga Center and the Grover Zampa Vineyards, where you can tour the facility and taste local wines. The atmosphere is generally relaxed, shifting from the quiet spirituality of its temples to the energetic vibe of its trekking trails.
