Located prominently on The Ridge, Christ Church is an unmistakable landmark of Shimla and a significant remnant of its colonial past. As the second oldest church in North India, its silhouette is one of the first things visitors notice. The church is built in the neo-Gothic style of architecture, characterized by its tall spires, pointed arches, and a clock tower. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and reflective. The main attraction is the set of five large stained-glass windows on the eastern wall, each representing Christian virtues like Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Patience, and Humility. Visitors can walk through the main prayer hall, observing the memorial plaques on the walls that commemorate British officers and residents from the Raj era. The church also houses a large pipe organ, one of the biggest in the Indian subcontinent, though it is not always in use. The structure itself, with its yellow stone facade, provides a striking contrast against the backdrop of the Himalayas.
