Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Udaipur is from October to March, when the weather is pleasant and cool, with temperatures between 12°C and 28°C. This is the peak tourist season. The summer months of April to June are very hot and best avoided. The monsoon season from July to September sees rainfall, which makes the city look green and beautiful, but outdoor sightseeing can be interrupted. Visiting during festivals like Diwali or Holi can be a unique cultural experience.
Peak Crowd: November to January, and during major holidays like Diwali and Christmas, due to ideal weather and vacation season.

Air

Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR) in Dabok is the nearest airport, approximately 22 km from the city center. A taxi from the airport to the City Palace takes about 45-60 minutes.

Train

Udaipur City Railway Station is about 4 km from the palace. It has good connectivity with major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Agra. Auto-rickshaws and taxis are available at the station.

Road

Udaipur is well-connected by road via National Highway 48 and state highways. Regular state-run and private luxury buses operate from nearby cities like Ahmedabad (260 km), Jaipur (400 km), and Jodhpur (250 km).

Local Transport

Auto-rickshaws are the most convenient way to get around the Old City. App-based services like Ola and Uber are also available. For short distances, you can walk as many attractions are clustered together near the palace.
