Discover what makes this destination truly special

Corjuem Fort is a small, square-shaped fortress located on an island in the Mapusa River, near the village of Aldona in North Goa. Built from laterite stone, it's one of the two surviving inland forts in the region. Unlike the larger coastal forts of Goa, Corjuem has a more modest and intimate feel. Visitors cross a scenic cable-stayed bridge to reach the island, which adds to the experience. Inside the fort's walls, you can walk along the ramparts, which have gun ports and murder holes still intact. The fort also houses a small chapel dedicated to St. Anthony. The main attraction here is the expansive view of the river and the surrounding lush green landscape. It's a quiet place, often free from large tourist crowds, allowing for a peaceful exploration of a lesser-known piece of Goan history.
