Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is from March to October when Srinagar's weather is pleasant and ideal for sightseeing. During these months, the gardens are lush and the lake is beautiful. Winters, from November to February, are very cold with sub-zero temperatures, but the shrine against a snowy backdrop is a unique sight. Avoid visiting on major Islamic festival days if you want to avoid extremely large crowds, though these times offer a powerful display of faith.
Peak Crowd: Fridays, Eid holidays, Milad-un-Nabi, and during the peak tourist season from May to July.
Moderate Crowd: Weekends in spring (March-April) and autumn (September-October).
Low Crowd: Weekday mornings, especially during the colder months of January and February.

Air

Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport (SXR) in Srinagar is the nearest airport, located about 24 km away. A taxi from the airport to the shrine takes approximately 1 hour.

Train

The nearest major railway station is Jammu Tawi, about 270 km away. From Jammu, you need to hire a taxi or take a bus to Srinagar, which is a 7-8 hour road journey. Udhampur station is closer but has fewer connections.

Road

Srinagar is well-connected by road to cities like Jammu, Leh, and Chandigarh via NH44. Both government-run and private buses operate on these routes. Taxis are also widely available.

Local Transport

Within Srinagar, auto-rickshaws, local buses, and taxis are easily available to reach the shrine. It is a well-known landmark, and any driver will know the location.
