Don Bosco Museum - Indigenous Cultures of Northeast India in Shillong

Established by the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures (DBCIC) was conceived as a place to preserve and promote the rich, and often fading, cultural heritage of Northeast India's numerous indigenous groups. The museum was inaugurated in 2004. Its unique hexagonal building was designed to allow visitors a seamless journey through the different cultures and states of the region. It has since grown to become one of Asia's largest museums dedicated to indigenous cultures, serving as a vital research and educational center for scholars, students, and tourists interested in the area's anthropology and social history.
