The best time to visit Thekkady and stay at Greenwoods is from September to March. During these months, the weather is cool and pleasant, with minimal rainfall, which is ideal for wildlife spotting and outdoor activities like trekking and boating. December and January are the peak months. For those who enjoy the rain and lush landscapes, the monsoon season from June to August offers a unique, quieter experience with discounted rates.

Air

Train

The nearest major railway station is Kottayam (KTYM), located about 110 km away. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Thekkady by taxi from the station. Taxis are readily available for hire outside the station.

Road

Thekkady is well-connected by road. It is located on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border and can be reached via scenic routes from major cities like Kochi (160 km), Kottayam (110 km), and Madurai (140 km). Regular state and private buses operate to Kumily town.

Local Transport

Auto-rickshaws are the most common form of local transport for short distances within Kumily and Thekkady. Local jeeps and taxis are also available for hire for sightseeing tours and visiting nearby attractions.
