For snow and winter sports like skiing and snowboarding, the best time to visit is from December to March, when the entire valley is covered in a thick layer of snow. For pleasant weather, lush green meadows, and activities like trekking and golf, visit between April and June. The monsoon months of July and August see fewer tourists. September to November offers crisp weather and autumn colours, making it a quiet time to visit before the winter rush.

Gulmarg as a destination is open 24/7. However, the main attraction, the Gulmarg Gondola, typically operates from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Timings are heavily dependent on weather conditions and may be suspended without notice. Ticket counters close earlier, around 3:00 PM.

There is no entry fee to visit the town of Gulmarg itself. However, fees apply for specific activities and attractions. The Gulmarg Gondola ride has separate charges for Phase I (to Kongdoori) and Phase II (to Apharwat Peak). As of recent estimates, Phase I costs around ₹740 and Phase II costs around ₹950 per person. Prices are subject to change.
