Explore the historic Hampi Bazaar, a kilometer-long street market at the base of the Virupaksha Temple, lined with ancient pavilions and modern shops.
Hampi Bazaar, also known as Virupaksha Bazaar, is a historic street market located directly in front of the Virupaksha Temple. Stretching for nearly a kilometer, this street was once the heart of Hampi's commercial and social life during the Vijayanagara Empire, where merchants traded in gold, gems, and horses. Today, the bazaar offers a glimpse into its past glory with its long, colonnaded stone pavilions lining both sides. While many of the original structures are ruins, the street is alive with activity.
