Irupu Falls - The Sacred Waterfall of Coorg

Irupu Falls is a freshwater cascade located in the Brahmagiri mountain range in the Coorg district of Karnataka. Originating from the Lakshmana Tirtha River, the water plunges down a height of about 170 feet in two distinct stages. To reach the falls, visitors undertake a short trek of about 500 meters through a dense forest trail, which involves climbing a series of steps and crossing a small bridge. The walk itself is an experience, with the sounds of the forest and the approaching roar of the water building anticipation. The area around the falls is lush and green, especially after the monsoons. There is a pool at the base where visitors can take a dip, though it's advised to be cautious as the rocks are slippery and currents can be strong. The falls are not just a natural attraction but also a place of religious importance, often visited by pilgrims who also pray at the nearby Rameshwara Temple.
