Kynrem Falls is a spectacular three-tiered waterfall located inside Thangkharang Park, about 12 kilometers from the main town of Cherrapunji. With a total height of approximately 305 meters (1,001 feet), it is counted among the tallest waterfalls in India. The water cascades in three distinct stages before plunging into a valley, creating a powerful and dramatic sight, especially during the monsoon season when it's at its most voluminous.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Kynrem Falls is during the monsoon season, from June to September. This is when Cherrapunji receives maximum rainfall, and the waterfall is at its peak volume, creating a powerful and breathtaking spectacle. The post-monsoon months of October and November are also a good time, as the water flow is still significant and the weather is clearer and more pleasant. Visiting during the dry season (December to May) is less ideal, as the water flow can diminish to a thin trickle.
Peak Crowd: June-September, weekends, and national holidays, as this is the peak monsoon season when the falls are most impressive.
Moderate Crowd: October-January, when the weather is pleasant and post-monsoon flow is still good.

Cherrapunji is well-connected by road from Shillong (54 km) and Guwahati (180 km). The falls are located on the Sohra-Shella Road. Regular taxi services and shared sumos are available from Shillong to Cherrapunji.
