    About the Destination

    Overview

Lady Hydari Park is a well-known public space in Shillong that combines elements of a park, a garden, and a small zoo. The park's design is inspired by Japanese gardens, featuring manicured lawns, small ponds with willow trees, and paved walkways. It is a popular spot for local families and visitors looking for a relaxed outing. The park is filled with a variety of flowers, including an impressive rose garden that blooms in season. A key attraction within the park is the mini zoo, which houses a few species of animals native to Meghalaya, such as the Himalayan Black Bear, porcupines, and several types of deer and birds. There is also a small museum managed by the Forest Department, displaying local flora and fauna exhibits. A dedicated children's play area with swings and slides makes it a good destination for those traveling with kids. The overall atmosphere is peaceful, offering a break from the city's activity.
