Saheliyon Ki Bari is a well-maintained historical garden located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake. Built in the early 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh II, it was designed as a peaceful retreat for the queen and her royal companions. The garden's name translates to 'Garden of the Maidens', reflecting its original purpose as a leisure spot away from the political affairs of the court.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is from October to March when the weather in Udaipur is cool and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 28°C. This period is ideal for sightseeing. The summer months, from April to June, are very hot and best avoided. The monsoon season, from July to September, brings rain which makes the garden look fresh and green, but outdoor activities can be interrupted by heavy showers. Winter mornings are especially beautiful for a visit.
Peak Crowd: November to January, and on weekends and national holidays. This is the peak tourist season in Udaipur.
Moderate Crowd: February, March, and October. Weekday afternoons also see a moderate number of visitors.
Low Crowd: April to June due to the extreme summer heat, and during the monsoon months of July and August.

How to Reach

Air

Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR) is the nearest airport, located about 23 km away. A taxi from the airport to the garden takes approximately 40-50 minutes.

Train

Udaipur City Railway Station (UDZ) is the main railhead, about 5 km from the garden. You can easily find auto-rickshaws and taxis from the station, taking about 15-20 minutes to reach.

Road

Udaipur is well-connected by National Highway 48 and other state highways to major cities like Jaipur (400 km), Ahmedabad (260 km), and Delhi (660 km). Regular state-run and private buses operate to Udaipur.

Local Transport

Within Udaipur, auto-rickshaws are the most common mode of transport. App-based cab services like Ola and Uber are also functional. You can also rent scooters or motorcycles for local sightseeing.
