    About the Destination

    Overview

Majorda Beach is a long stretch of soft, white sand located in South Goa, known for its clean shoreline and calm Arabian Sea waters. The beach is lined with dense palm and pine groves, creating a pleasant backdrop. Unlike many beaches in North Goa, Majorda has a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere, making it popular with families and couples looking for a peaceful day by the sea. A number of quality beach shacks are spread out along the sand, serving fresh seafood and local Goan dishes. The area is also home to several high-end resorts that have direct access to the beach. The water is generally safe for swimming, and during the tourist season, various water sports activities are available. The beach is also part of a continuous stretch of sand that connects it to neighboring beaches like Utorda to the north and Betalbatim to the south, allowing for long walks along the coast.

    • • The beach is quietest on weekday mornings, making it ideal for a peaceful walk.
    • • Carry sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle to stay protected from the sun.
    • • During the monsoon (June to September), the sea is rough, swimming is unsafe, and most shacks are closed.
    • • For the best photos, capture the sunset from the southern end of the beach where there are fewer people.
    • • Don't miss trying the local Goan bread, or 'poi', from one of the bakeries in the main village.
    • • Always confirm prices for water sports before you start and feel free to negotiate politely.
    • • Lifeguards are on duty during the day; always swim in the designated safe zones marked by flags.

    Rules & Restrictions

    • • No littering; use designated bins to keep the beach clean.
    • • Driving any type of vehicle on the beach sand is strictly prohibited.
    • • Avoid swimming during rough sea conditions, especially during the monsoon season.
    • • Consumption of alcohol in open public areas on the beach is restricted by local laws.
    • • Setting up personal bonfires may require permission and should be done responsibly.

    Safety Information

    • • Always swim in areas marked safe by lifeguards, as sea currents can be unpredictable.
    • • Apply sunscreen regularly and drink plenty of water to avoid sunburn and dehydration.
    • • Do not leave your valuables unattended on the beach while swimming.
    • • Avoid venturing into the sea after consuming alcohol or during the late hours of the night.
    • • Choose water sports operators who are certified and provide proper safety equipment like life jackets.
    • • Be aware of your surroundings, especially after dark.

    Best Time to Visit

    • The ideal time to visit is from November to February. During these months, the weather is dry and pleasant with daytime temperatures between 25°C and 30°C. The sea is calm, and all beach shacks and water sports are fully operational. March to May gets hotter and more humid. The monsoon season, from June to September, brings heavy rain, making beach activities difficult. Most temporary shacks are dismantled during this period, but the landscape is lush and green.
    • Peak Crowd: December to January, particularly during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Weekends throughout the tourist season also draw larger crowds.
    • Moderate Crowd: October, November, February, and March on weekdays.
    • Low Crowd: April to September, which includes the hot summer months and the monsoon season, when tourist activity is minimal.
