A 3.6 km C-shaped seaside promenade in Mumbai, famous for its evening 'Queen's Necklace' view, sunset, and as a popular public space.
Discover what makes this destination truly special

Marine Drive is a 3.6-kilometer-long boulevard in South Mumbai, forming a C-shaped arc along the Arabian Sea. The entire stretch is a popular spot for locals and tourists to walk, jog, or simply sit on the promenade and watch the waves. The wide pavement is lined with benches and tetrapods—large four-legged concrete structures—that break the force of the waves. During the day, it offers an expansive view of the sea and the city's skyline. As evening sets in, the streetlights along the curved road illuminate, creating a string of lights that resembles a pearl necklace, which has earned it the nickname 'Queen's Necklace'. The atmosphere here transitions throughout the day. Early mornings are quiet, used by fitness enthusiasts. Evenings and nights are full of energy, with people from all walks of life enjoying the cool sea breeze. The promenade connects Nariman Point to Babulnath and Malabar Hill, with Girgaon Chowpatty beach located at its northern end.
