The Muziris Heritage Project is not a single location but a vast historical region spread across parts of Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. It's an initiative to conserve and showcase the remains of the ancient port city of Muziris, which was a major hub for the spice trade with civilizations like the Romans, Greeks, and Arabs over 2000 years ago. Visitors experience a journey through time by exploring a circuit of more than 25 different sites. Key locations include the Pattanam archaeological site, where excavations have unearthed historical artifacts, and several well-preserved museums like the Paliam Palace and Paliam Nalukettu, which display the lifestyle of powerful local families.

Air
Cochin International Airport (COK) is the nearest airport, located about 25 km from the main Muziris region. You can hire a taxi from the airport for a journey of about 45-60 minutes.
Train
The nearest major railway stations are Aluva (AWY), about 20 km away, and Ernakulam Junction (ERS), about 30 km away. Both stations are well-connected to major Indian cities. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are available from the stations.
Road
The Muziris area is well-connected by road via NH 66. It's an approximate one-hour drive from Kochi city. You can hire a car or take a state-run KSRTC bus from Kochi to North Paravur or Kodungallur.
Local Transport
Hiring a taxi for the day is the most convenient option for tourists. Within the project area, the official boat service is excellent for covering waterside attractions. Auto-rickshaws are available for short distances between sites.
