Netrani Island, located about 19 kilometers off the coast of Murudeshwar, is a small, heart-shaped island in the Arabian Sea. It is one of Karnataka's prime destinations for scuba diving and snorkeling. The island itself is uninhabited, rocky, and covered with vegetation; visitors do not land on it but explore the rich marine ecosystem in the surrounding waters. The main draw is the clear visibility, which can extend up to 20 meters on good days, revealing a spectacular underwater world.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Netrani Island is from October to May. During these months, the sea is calm, the weather is clear, and underwater visibility is at its best. The peak season is from December to February. Avoid the monsoon season, from June to September, as the sea becomes rough and all diving and boating activities are suspended for safety reasons.
Peak Crowd: December-January, weekends, and public holidays, due to pleasant weather and peak tourist season.
Moderate Crowd: October-November and February-March on weekdays.
Low Crowd: April-May due to rising temperatures, and June-September when activities are closed for the monsoon.

Air

Mangalore International Airport (IXE) is the nearest airport, located about 160 km away. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Murudeshwar by taxi from the airport.

Train

Murudeshwar (MRDW) has its own railway station on the Konkan Railway line, which connects Mangalore and Mumbai. The station is just 2 km from the main temple and dive centers.

Road

Murudeshwar is situated on National Highway 66 (NH-66), making it easily accessible by road from cities like Mangalore (160 km), Goa (210 km), and Bengaluru (490 km). Regular government and private buses are available.
