Witness India's tallest plunge waterfall, Nohkalikai, as it cascades dramatically down a 340-meter cliff into a stunning turquoise pool in Cherrapunji.
Nohkalikai Waterfalls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India, dropping from a height of about 340 meters (1,115 feet) into a deep green pool below. Located near Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth, the waterfall is fed by rainwater collected on the summit of a small plateau. The experience for visitors is primarily centered around a main viewpoint that offers a direct, panoramic view of the falls cascading down a sheer cliff. The surrounding cliffs are covered in lush greenery, and the area is often shrouded in mist, which adds to the atmosphere. A series of steep, concrete steps lead down towards the base, offering different perspectives along the way. The full trek to the bottom is strenuous and recommended only for those with good physical fitness. At the viewpoint area, there are several small stalls selling local snacks and souvenirs. The sound of the water and the immense scale of the cliff face make for a powerful natural spectacle, especially during and after the monsoon season when the water flow is at its peak.
