    • The best time to visit is from October to May. During these months, the weather is mostly dry and pleasant, making it easy to explore. The post-monsoon months from October to November offer clear skies and lush green landscapes. Avoid the peak monsoon season from June to September, as heavy rainfall can cause travel disruptions, although the landscape is exceptionally green at this time.
    • Peak Crowd: December-January and major Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter when tourist footfall in Cherrapunji is high.
    • Moderate Crowd: October-November and February-May, especially on weekends.
    • Low Crowd: Weekdays throughout the year, and during the monsoon season from June to September.

    How to Reach

    Air

    Shillong Airport (SHL) is the nearest airport, around 80 km away. However, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) in Guwahati, Assam (180 km away), has better connectivity. From either airport, you need to hire a taxi to Cherrapunji.

    Train

    The nearest major railway station is Guwahati (GHY), about 180 km away. It is well-connected to all major cities in India. From the station, you can hire a taxi or take a shared vehicle to Cherrapunji.

    Road

    Cherrapunji (Sohra) is well-connected by road from Shillong (approx. 55 km). Regular taxis and shared sumos are available from Anjali Stand or Police Bazar in Shillong.

    Local Transport

    Within Cherrapunji, local taxis are the main mode of transport for sightseeing. You can hire one for a full day or for specific drop-offs. The church is easily accessible by road within the town.
