Best Time to Visit

The best period to visit Om Beach is from October to March. During these months, the weather is dry and pleasant, with comfortable temperatures ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The sea is calm, making it safe for boat rides and other water activities. The monsoon season, from June to September, brings heavy rainfall and rough seas, and many shacks close down. April and May are very hot and humid, which can be uncomfortable for outdoor activities.
Peak Crowd: December to January, long weekends, and during festivals like Shivaratri and New Year. The pleasant weather draws large crowds.
Moderate Crowd: October, November, February, and March on weekdays.

Air

The nearest major airport is Dabolim Airport (GOI) in Goa, approximately 145 km away. It takes about 3-4 hours to reach Gokarna by taxi from the airport.

Train

Gokarna Road (GOK) is the nearest railway station, about 10 km from the town. However, not all trains stop here. Ankola (ANKL), 20 km away, and Kumta (KT), 35 km away, are better-connected stations. You can hire an auto or taxi from these stations to reach Gokarna.

Road

Gokarna is well-connected by road via NH 66. Regular bus services, both government and private, run from major cities like Bangalore (485 km), Mangalore (235 km), and Goa (145 km).

Local Transport

Within Gokarna, auto-rickshaws are the main form of transport. You can hire them to travel between beaches and the town. Renting a scooter or motorbike is also a popular and convenient option, with daily rentals costing around ₹300-₹500.
