A unique 17th-century Mughal stone mosque built by Empress Nur Jahan, located on the banks of the Jhelum River in Srinagar's old city.
Located on the left bank of the Jhelum River in Srinagar's old city, Pathar Masjid stands apart from Kashmir's traditional wooden mosques. Constructed entirely from local grey limestone, its design reflects a strong Mughal architectural influence. The structure features a distinct layout with nine large arches, including a prominent central arch, that form its facade. Inside, the prayer hall is supported by eighteen massive square pillars, creating a spacious and imposing atmosphere. Unlike typical Kashmiri shrines with their pagoda-like roofs, this mosque has a flat roof, a characteristic that made it unusual for its time.

Air
Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport (SXR) in Srinagar is the nearest airport, located about 14 km away. A taxi or pre-booked cab from the airport will take around 40-50 minutes to reach the mosque.
Train
Srinagar Railway Station (SINA) is about 11 km away, but it has limited connectivity. The major railway station connecting to the rest of India is Jammu Tawi (JAT), about 270 km away, from where you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Srinagar (a 7-8 hour journey).
Road
Srinagar is well-connected by road via National Highway 44 from Jammu and other cities. Regular government and private buses, as well as shared and private taxis, operate to Srinagar.
Local Transport
Within Srinagar, auto-rickshaws and taxis are readily available. App-based cab services also operate in the city. The mosque is located in a congested area, so walking the last few hundred meters might be necessary.
