Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Ponmudi is from November to May. The post-monsoon months (November to February) offer lush green landscapes and pleasant, cool weather. The summer months (March to May) provide a great escape from the heat of the plains. The monsoon season, from June to October, sees heavy rainfall, which can make the roads slippery and increase the risk of landslides. Dense fog is also common during this period, limiting visibility.

Ponmudi is connected by a state highway to Thiruvananthapuram. The road is scenic but includes 22 hairpin bends, requiring careful driving. The distance from Thiruvananthapuram city center is about 55 km.

Local Transport

Hiring a private car or motorbike from Thiruvananthapuram is the most popular way to reach Ponmudi. KSRTC buses are available from the Thampanoor bus stand but have limited schedules. Auto-rickshaws are not recommended for the steep climb.
