Savage Garden Restaurant - Rooftop Dining in Udaipur

The restaurant is a modern establishment located within a much older, traditional Rajasthani haveli. These havelis, or historic townhouses, are characteristic of Udaipur's old city architecture, often dating back a couple of centuries. While the building itself has historical roots, Savage Garden was established in recent decades as part of a trend of repurposing heritage properties into guesthouses and restaurants. The aim was to offer visitors a dining experience that combines food with the architectural charm and scenic views unique to Udaipur's lakeside properties. The restaurant maintains much of the original structure, including its narrow staircases and small rooms.

Savage Garden's significance comes from its contribution to Udaipur's popular rooftop dining culture. It exemplifies the experience many travelers seek: enjoying a meal against the backdrop of Lake Pichola and the city's illuminated palaces. Its location inside a traditional haveli allows visitors to experience the city's architectural heritage firsthand. While not a historical monument itself, it's a well-known spot that has become part of the contemporary tourist circuit in Udaipur, valued for its ambiance and prime vantage point for watching the sunset over the lake.
