Best Season:The best time to visit Seven Springs is from May to September. During these summer and autumn months, the weather is pleasant, the snow has melted, and the surrounding meadows are lush and green. This period ensures the chairlift is operational and the paths are accessible. Winter, from December to March, is not ideal as the springs are often buried under heavy snow, making them inaccessible to tourists.

Why Visit Seven Springs?

Discover what makes this destination truly special

Seven Springs is a natural water source located on a mountainside near the Kongdori station of the Gulmarg Gondola. The site gets its name from seven distinct outlets from which crystal-clear water flows out of the rock face. To reach it, visitors typically take the Gulmarg Gondola to the first phase (Kongdori) and then hop on a chairlift for a short, scenic ride over the meadows to the springs.

Opening Hours

10:00 AM — 4:00 PM

The visiting hours are dependent on the operational timings of the Gulmarg Gondola and the Kongdori chairlift, which generally operate from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. All operations are highly dependent on weather conditions and can be suspended without prior notice, especially during high winds or snowfall.

There is no entry fee for Seven Springs itself. However, access requires purchasing a ticket for the chairlift from Kongdori Station, which costs approximately ₹300 per person. Reaching Kongdori requires a separate ticket for Phase 1 of the Gulmarg Gondola.

History & Significance

Learn about the story and cultural importance of this destination

History

Seven Springs is a naturally occurring phenomenon and does not have a constructed history. It has been a known feature of the landscape for a long time, appreciated by local shepherds and residents. Its popularity with tourists grew significantly after the construction of the Gulmarg Gondola in the early 2000s. The installation of a chairlift from the Kongdori station to the springs made it an easily accessible stop for visitors exploring the mountain, transforming it from a local spot into a well-known tourist attraction within the Gulmarg circuit.

Significance

The significance of Seven Springs lies in its natural beauty and its role as a popular tourist stopover. It offers visitors a chance to experience a quieter side of Gulmarg's mountain landscape. For many tourists, it's their first close-up encounter with a mountain spring. The chairlift ride to the site is an experience in itself, providing panoramic views. While some locals attribute medicinal properties to the water, its primary importance today is as a scenic and recreational spot that complements the Gulmarg Gondola experience.
