Best Season:The best months to visit Shillong Peak are from October to April. During this post-monsoon and winter period, the sky is generally clear, offering excellent visibility for long-distance views. The weather is pleasant and cool. The monsoon season, from June to September, should be avoided as heavy fog and rain often completely obstruct the panoramic views, making the trip less worthwhile. Spring (March-April) is also a good time with blooming flora in the surrounding hills.

On a clear day, you can even see the plains of Bangladesh stretching out towards the horizon. Visitors access the peak via a narrow, winding road that passes through the Air Force base, which requires a valid photo ID for entry. At the summit, there's a circular viewing platform equipped with telescopes that allow for a closer look at the city below. The atmosphere is generally cool and windy, offering a refreshing break from the city. The area around the viewpoint has small stalls selling local snacks like roasted corn and tea, making it a popular spot for both tourists and locals to relax and enjoy the scenery.
