Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Mall Road is from March to June for pleasant summer weather. Another ideal period is from October to February when the weather is cold, and you might experience snowfall in December and January, which adds to the charm. Avoid the monsoon season from July to September due to heavy rainfall, which can cause landslides and make walking inconvenient. The street is especially lively during the peak tourist seasons of summer and winter.

Train

The nearest broad-gauge railway station is in Kalka (96 km away), which is well-connected to major cities like Delhi and Kolkata. From Kalka, you can take the historic Kalka-Shimla Toy Train, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which takes about 5-6 hours to reach Shimla.

Road

Shimla is well-connected by road to major cities like Delhi (350 km) and Chandigarh (115 km) via NH5. Regular bus services, including deluxe and Volvo buses, are available from these cities.

Local Transport

Within Shimla, you can hire local taxis to reach the entry points of Mall Road. The HPTDC tourist lift from Cart Road is a popular option to avoid the steep climb to the Mall.
