Smriti Van - A Biodiversity Forest & Memorial Park in Jaipur

Smriti Van was established by the state government's Forest Department as a memorial. Its creation is tied to the tragic flood of July 1981 that caused significant loss of life and property in Jaipur. The government decided to develop this area, which was heavily affected by the flood, into a green space. As part of its development, a massive plantation drive was initiated where citizens were encouraged to plant saplings in memory of their loved ones. This community participation gave the park its name, 'Smriti Van', which translates to 'Memorial Forest'. It has since evolved into a significant ecological zone and a popular recreational spot for residents.
