Overview

Sri Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is a prominent Sikh house of worship in the heart of Delhi, easily recognized by its gleaming golden dome and tall flagpole, the Nishan Sahib. The entire complex is built from white marble, which creates a calming effect as you walk through its premises. At its center is a large holy water tank, the 'Sarovar,' where devotees take a dip. The main structure houses the prayer hall, or Darbar Sahib, where the holy scripture, Guru Granth Sahib, is placed and hymns ('kirtan') are recited throughout the day, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is from October to March when Delhi's weather is pleasant and cool, with temperatures ranging from 10-25°C. This period is ideal for spending time outdoors in the complex. The summer months from April to June are extremely hot. The monsoon season from July to September is humid with frequent rain. Visiting during Gurpurab (birth anniversaries of Gurus) offers a special festive atmosphere, but be prepared for very large crowds.
Peak Crowd: Weekends, all public holidays, and during Sikh festivals like Gurpurab. The winter tourist season from November to January also sees high footfall.
Moderate Crowd: Weekday afternoons and evenings.

Air

Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) is about 16 km away. It takes approximately 30-45 minutes to reach by taxi or the Airport Express Line metro service.

Train

New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) is the closest major station, located about 2.5 km away. Old Delhi Railway Station (DLI) is around 6 km away. Both stations are well-connected, and you can easily hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi to reach the Gurudwara.

Road

The Gurudwara is centrally located near Connaught Place and is easily accessible by road from all parts of Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR).

Local Transport

The most convenient way is by Delhi Metro; get down at Patel Chowk (Yellow Line) or Shivaji Stadium (Airport Express Line). Auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, local buses, and app-based cabs like Ola and Uber provide excellent connectivity.
