Located on the banks of the Tunga River, Sringeri Sharada Peetham is a significant monastery in Hindu tradition. It was the first of the four mathas, or centers of learning, established in the 8th century by the philosopher-saint Adi Shankaracharya. The complex is not just one temple but a collection of structures, with the Sharadamba Temple and the Vidyashankara Temple being the most prominent.
