St. Francis Church holds a significant place in the history of India as it is considered the first European church built in the country. Located in the heart of Fort Kochi, its simple, white-washed exterior with a gabled roof and bell tower stands in contrast to the complex history it represents. The atmosphere inside is calm and reflective, allowing visitors to step back in time. As you walk through the church, you'll notice the large, manually operated cloth fans, known as punkahs, which are a relic from the colonial era.

Train

The two main railway stations are Ernakulam Junction (ERS), around 13 km away, and Ernakulam Town (ERN), around 15 km away. From the stations, you can hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach Fort Kochi.

Road

Kochi is well-connected by National Highways like NH 66, NH 544, and NH 85 to major cities in South India. You can drive or take state-run (KSRTC) or private buses to Ernakulam and then take local transport to Fort Kochi.
