Train

The nearest major railway stations are Rangapara North Railway Station (RPAN) in Assam (383 km away) and Guwahati Railway Station (GHY). From either station, you must continue the journey by road via taxi or bus, which typically takes two days with an overnight halt.

Road

Tawang is connected by road from Tezpur (Assam) via the Sela Pass. The drive is scenic but arduous, taking around 12-14 hours. It is advisable to break the journey with a night stop at Bomdila or Dirang. An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is mandatory for all domestic tourists to enter Arunachal Pradesh and can be obtained online or from designated government offices.
