Built in 1910 by Maharaja Pratap Singh, this palace was originally known as Gulab Bhavan. It served as the primary residence for the Dogra Maharajas of Jammu & Kashmir for decades. The palace has hosted numerous dignitaries and royalty, including Lord Mountbatten. After India's independence, the property was converted into a luxury hotel, allowing the public to experience its royal past. In the early 2000s, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group acquired the hotel, undertook extensive restoration to preserve its heritage, and reopened it as The Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar, maintaining its status as a city landmark.
