A popular 4-day trek from Manali leading to a high-altitude alpine lake, known for its vast meadows and panoramic Himalayan views.
The Bhrigu Lake Trek is a popular high-altitude trek starting near Manali, taking you to the alpine Bhrigu Lake which sits at an elevation of about 4,300 meters (14,100 feet). The journey typically spans 3 to 4 days and is known for its accessibility to beginners while still offering a genuine Himalayan experience. The trail begins from the village of Gulaba, a short drive from Manali. As you ascend, the landscape transitions from dense forests of oak and cedar to expansive, rolling green meadows. These meadows, often carpeted with wildflowers in the summer, are a major highlight of the trek. The final ascent to the lake is a bit more challenging, traversing rocky terrain and sometimes snow patches, even in early summer. The lake itself is a stunning sight, believed to be the meditation spot of the sage Maharishi Bhrigu. It holds mythological importance and is considered sacred by locals. From various points on the trek, you get clear views of major Himalayan peaks like Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, and the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges. The experience combines natural beauty, a moderate physical challenge, and a touch of spiritual calm.
