A series of powerful, cascading rapids on the Chalakudy River, set within a lush forest and known for its scenic beauty and rich biodiversity.
Discover what makes this destination truly special

Vazhachal Falls is not a typical high-plunge waterfall but a wide, cascading series of rapids on the Chalakudy River. Located within the Vazhachal Forest Division in Kerala's Western Ghats, it's about 5 kilometers from the more famous Athirappilly Falls. The water rushes down a rocky, inclined surface, creating a powerful and visually striking flow, especially during the monsoon season. The area is surrounded by dense, green forests that are rich in biodiversity, including several species of hornbills.
Plan your trip around the ideal season for the best experience
October-January, especially on weekends and public holidays, due to pleasant weather and post-monsoon flow.
September, February-March, and weekdays during the peak season.
