Best Time to Visit

For snow and skiing, the best time to stay is from late December to early March, when Gulmarg is covered in a thick blanket of snow. For sightseeing and enjoying the green meadows, visit between May and September. During these summer months, the weather is pleasant with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. The monsoon months of July and August can see rainfall, but the landscape is exceptionally green. Autumn (October-November) offers clear skies and cooler temperatures but without the snow.
Peak Crowd: December to February for the ski season, and May to June for summer holidays. Expect high occupancy and prices.
Moderate Crowd: March, April, September, and October. These shoulder months offer a good balance of weather and fewer crowds.
Low Crowd: July and August due to the monsoon season, which can interrupt outdoor plans.

How to Reach

Air

Srinagar International Airport (SXR) is the nearest airport, approximately 55 km away. A taxi from the airport to the hotel takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and weather.

Train

The nearest major railway station is Jammu Tawi (JAT), located around 290 km from Gulmarg. From Jammu, you must travel to Srinagar by road (a 7-8 hour journey) and then proceed to Gulmarg.

Road

Gulmarg is connected to Srinagar by a well-maintained road. The 55 km drive takes about 1.5-2 hours. In winter, the road from Tangmarg to Gulmarg (the last 12 km) can have heavy snow, and only vehicles with 4-wheel drive and/or snow chains are allowed.

Local Transport

Within Gulmarg, most places are accessible on foot. Local taxis are available at the main market for trips around the town. The hotel can arrange for transportation services upon request.
