West Zone Cultural Centre (Shilpgram) - Udaipur's Artisan Village

The West Zone Cultural Centre, popularly known as Shilpgram, is a rural arts and crafts complex located a few kilometers from the main city of Udaipur. It's designed as a living museum to showcase the lifestyles, traditions, and arts of the folk and tribal people of western India. The complex is spread over 70 acres and features authentically constructed huts and dwellings from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa. As you walk through the village, you can see artisans engaged in their crafts, from pottery and weaving to puppetry and painting. Many artists sell their work directly, giving you a chance to interact with them and buy unique souvenirs. The atmosphere is relaxed, with intermittent folk music and dance performances happening at various spots. An open-air amphitheater with a capacity for around 8,000 people serves as the main stage for larger cultural events and festivals, especially the famous annual Shilpgram Utsav.
