Wular Lake - Asia's Largest Freshwater Lake near Srinagar

Wular Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia, covering a vast area that changes with the seasons. Its massive expanse of water is fed by the Jhelum River and is surrounded by towering mountains, including the Haramukh peak, creating a dramatic landscape. The experience here is centered on the sheer scale of the water body and its natural environment. Visitors can hire a shikara or a motorboat to explore the lake, observing the lives of local fishermen who harvest water chestnuts and fish for a living. The lake's atmosphere changes throughout the day, from misty mornings with calm waters to windy afternoons where the lake can resemble a small sea.
