Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Yellapur is from October to February. During this post-monsoon period, the waterfalls are at their most spectacular, fed by the rains, and the surrounding forests are vibrant green. The weather is cool and pleasant for sightseeing. While the falls are powerful during the peak monsoon (June to September), heavy rainfall can make roads slippery and travel difficult. Summer months (March to May) are hot, and the water flow in the falls is significantly reduced.
Peak Crowd: October-January, especially on weekends and public holidays, due to pleasant weather and full waterfalls.
Moderate Crowd: February-March and during weekdays in the peak season.
Low Crowd: April-June due to the summer heat and reduced water levels, and July-September when heavy rains can deter visitors.

How to Reach

Air

Goa's Dabolim Airport (GOI) is the nearest international airport, about 140 km away (4-5 hours). Hubli Airport (HBX) is the closest domestic airport, about 75 km away (2 hours).

Train

The nearest major railway station is Hubli Junction (UBL), around 70 km away. Smaller stations on the Konkan route like Ankola (ANKL) are about 60 km away, but Hubli offers better connectivity.

Road

Yellapur is well-connected by road and lies on NH 52 (formerly NH 63). It is about 85 km from Gokarna, 70 km from Hubli, and 60 km from Karwar. KSRTC buses run regularly from these cities to Yellapur town.

Local Transport

From Yellapur town, you need to hire a local auto-rickshaw or jeep to visit the waterfalls, which are located 15-25 km away in different directions. Negotiate the fare for a round trip beforehand.
