The main gateway to Hari Parbat Fort, Kathi Darwaza is a significant Mughal-era structure known for its Persian inscriptions and distinct architecture.
Kathi Darwaza is the primary and most imposing gateway to the historic Hari Parbat Fort in Srinagar. Positioned on the southern side of the hill, this structure serves as the main entrance to the sprawling fort complex. Built in the distinct Mughal architectural style, the gateway is flanked by two large domed chambers. Its walls are constructed with large, dressed stones, giving it a solid and enduring appearance. As you approach, the most notable feature is the Persian inscription on a stone slab above the archway, which provides details about its construction during Emperor Akbar's reign.
