The Chembra Peak trek is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Wayanad, taking you to one of the highest points in the region at 2,100 meters above sea level. The trek is managed by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) and the Vana Samrakshana Samithi (VSS), ensuring a regulated and safe experience. The trail starts from the forest office near Meppadi and initially winds through tea and coffee plantations before opening up into vast rolling grasslands. The ascent is moderately challenging, making it accessible for most people with a reasonable level of fitness.

Trekking starts from 7:00 AM. The ticket counter closes and the last group is allowed to start the trek at 2:00 PM. All trekkers must return to the base by 5:00 PM. The trek may be closed without prior notice during adverse weather conditions like heavy rain or extreme heat.
Fees are charged per group. A group of up to 5 Indian nationals is ₹750. A group of up to 5 foreign nationals is ₹1500. This fee includes the mandatory guide service. A still camera fee of ₹40 may be applicable. Rates are subject to change, so verify at the ticket counter.
